Spoiled??

I have had Bryson home with Coby for a few days while he was sick... We took a trip to get Coby a slush from Sonic to make his throat feel better and I got one for Bryson, too. I guess it made Coby feel a little less "special" since Bry got one, too... so here was our conversation on the way home....
Coby: "I wish I was the littlest one in our family...."
Me: "You do? Why?"
Coby: "Because then I would always get to have everything I wanted, even when it isn't fair!"
**Seriously, did my 6 year old just call me out on spoiling my baby?? :o)

Look at him... how could we NOT spoil this child??!! :o)

credit where credit is due....

Just for the record, and to make peace at home, Clint is NOT a bad driver... he traded his little white honda for a toyota 4 runner a while back and it is a stick shift. The boys love learning about the gears and watching him drive it. He may "pretend" to be a nascar driver at times... shifting gears quickly and showing them how it all works, but really, he has not had many speeding tickets and only one fender bender in college (2 days after we bought my new Ford Explorer!) But generally he gets everyone where they need to be, on time, and in one piece!
This is just a disclaimer for any of you who may be letting your children ride with him at some point or another! He is no Jeff Gordon!! :o)

BUSTED

Wednesdays are "Cason's special day." We drop Bryson off at Kaylee's house (she babysits him on Wednesdays while I teach) and Cason and I go to school just the 2 of us. We move his car seat to the front and he rides up there where he can control the music, the windows, and we talk about whatever he wants to talk about. This morning as we were entering onto the interstate, here was our conversation:

C: "Mom, you know you can go superdy fast on the highway and go around all these slow cars" (which, for the record, were not going all that slow)

Me: "Oh, yah? Who told you that?"

C:"Well, no one really, but when we ride with daddy in his car he drives in all the lanes like those drivers on NASCAR!"

BUSTED, Daddy. I gave him a speech later!

The kiss that literally took my breath away

Clint and I are back home... WITH NO CHILDREN!! And now you have read the title to this post and this first sentence and you are wondering if you should read on.... :o)
We left the boys with Clint's parents in Jacksboro for Camp GiGi for the week, and we headed home today. I have a hairline fracture in my foot so I am wearing this huge boot thing on my right foot. but we didnt let that stop us! We stopped in Fort Worth at 6 flags and visited the TITAN, which is our favorite roller coaster of all times... we had not ridden it in a long time bc we usually take our kids w/ us to 6 flags and dont get to ride the "mommy and daddy rides..." So this afternoon, we fought the 104 degree heat and rode it over and over until we felt sick. We decided to get creative with the camera spot on one of those "take your breath away" moments on the roller coaster:
I know I look less than thrilled to be kissing this husband of mine, but really I think I was kinda screaming with my mouth closed while we kissed. If only you could have seen the look of horror on my face in the previous pictures! Someone asked us if we were newly-weds! hehe!! Seriously, though... it all got me thinking about how our life is many times like a roller coaster... we have the highs of fun family vacations and proud moments as parents and then the lows of cleaning up the poo-poo that Bryson left as a trail to the potty and then tried to be a helper and clean it up himself... resulting in a really sweet little 2 year old covered in poop. yukk. But I do know that there is NO ONE that I would rather ride this roller coaster-life with than my favorite husband, Clint Best!!

Now, signing off from the blog-world to go enjoy our week with no kiddos!! (but secretly, we both miss them already!!)

Perspective

Today was the 100th day of school. The kids made lots of fun things and did cool activities having to do with the number 100. One thing they did was talk about being 100 years old. Here was my conversation with Micah this afternoon...
Micah: "Mommy I cant wait to be 100!"
Me: " Why?"
Micah, "Cause I get to wear glasses and use one of those cool those sticks when I walk and drink coffee."
I love their perspective at this age!! :o)

"I'm Telling!!!!"

I am so sick of the arguing that goes on every. single. day. at our house... especially since we have had about a week straight of cold, rainy weather... they are so cooped up and hyper!! So I tried something new, and it was great.

Clint was off at basketball practice, and he had Cason. Micah and Coby were fighting over who got to be Michaelangelo and who got the bigger sword. I was putting away laundry in my closet when I heard Coby cry out, "hey!!!! I had that first!!! I'm telling!!!" My first instinct was to march in there, seperate them, and gripe them out.... but I waited. Micah was running after him, begging him not to tattle. I clicked my closet light off and quietly pushed the door to. Coby came around the corner, "MOM??!!!" No Answer. "MOM???!!!" Still no answer. The looked in the living room, "MOM???!!!!" No answer. Laundry room... no answer. They begin looking together. I was listening to them to be sure they didnt panic and go outside. They came back into my room and I jumped out of my closet and scared them. The both hollered, we all laughed and they forgot all about their arguement. It was way more fun than playing the part of referree!!
